Today, in all classes, the re-quiz policy was discussed and written down by all students. This is the same policy that was explained to parents who attended the Open House prior to the school year. For those who will be attending the PTSA open house (9/22/2015), it will also be briefly explained there.
Please refer to the graphic below. Note: students who score 80 or higher on SOL quizzes are NOT required to re-quiz; however, a student may do so if he/she wants to earn extra points. Hey everyone! This week, we'll be diving into the next logical unit after mastering the writing and simplifying of ratios; by learning how to compare, order, and convert fractions, decimals, and percents (SOL 6.2), students will be prepared to use a variety of values, and also change them to suit their needs. Please refer to the homework calendar on the main page for details on how we will practice these skills! Reminders: 1. There will be a multiplication quiz on Fridays for the next three weeks! 2. An exact date for the SOL 6.2 quiz has not been set; when it is, I will post and announce. The plan is to spend about two weeks studying SOL 6.2. 3. EXTRA CREDIT ANNOUNCEMENT! Mr. K is crafty! (well, his wife is) Bring in a pair(s) of jeans that are not being used (school-aged size and up) and receive a LOW QUIZ DROP for the 1st 9 weeks! The jeans will be made into a long-lasting, creative calculator/item holder for Mr. K's class. And, it's even more awesome because we'll be RECYCLING! 4. There will be a COOL parent/student night at the VMASC facilty (Virginia Modeling and Simulation Center, in Northern Suffolk) very soon. See this link for details- you might even see MR. K there! 5. The videos for SOL 6.2 are found below. Notes will be checked Friday, September 25th. There will be a video session that day for students who need to view videos in school. Hey everyone! To reach all of my students, the following policies are put in place: 1. ALL STUDENTS HAVE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TO ACCESS CONTENT. Whether students access videos at home, on a mobile device using Wi-Fi, at a friend's house, OR AT SCHOOL (when need exists), no student will be denied math content- ever. I typically offer a VIDEO SESSION for all classes during lunchtime once per unit. I am also available to pull students from PE, if necessary. 2. ALL VIDEOS ARE EASILY ACCESSIBLE, ON ANY DEVICE/PLATFORM. All videos are found on YouTube, which is universally accessible. Please see the link above. 3. VIDEO NOTES COUNT AS A HOMEWORK GRADE. Parents who complete by September 14th earn a FREE homework pass for their child! Thanks! (this form can also be accessed by the link provided in open house, by the link given to students on the first few days of school, and I will also email it out and send via Remind) 2. STAY CONNECTED during the year! Sign up for Remind messages (homework, announcements, news, etc to your mobile device or email). Information will be given in open house sessions and in class. Sorry, can't post it here! 3. STAY CONNECTED during the year, part two! Check this site for my HOMEWORK CALENDAR on the main page. Students will also be given Google Accounts that can also link to this calendar- stay tuned. 4. I am not particular about required school supplies. If you have supplies, great. If you don't, get some. If you can't get supplies, see me...we'll figure something out! I will not let school supplies stress anyone! HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
