Hey everyone! As we wind down 2015, we prepare for our second benchmark test, mentioned in the last post. As was discussed in class today, the test looks like this: -40 items -multiple-choice -10 questions non-calculator; 30 questions calculator-enabled -10 old questions (6.1; 6.2; 6.4; 6.6...from 1st 9 weeks) -30 new questions (5 questions each from SOL 6.16, 6.7, 6.5, 6.17, 6.19, and 6.8) Please note: we will be reviewing this week leading up to Thursday's test by looking at our blue books, working on group-based review packets, and (hopefully) making corrections to old quizzes to not only learn from our mistakes, but to also take RE-QUIZZES! Please refer to Mr. K's YouTube channel for useful videos as review and remediation! AND NOW, TO SOME GREAT NEWS FOR NEXT YEAR!!! 1. Check out www.sumdog.com , when you get a chance. I'd like to know if you'd like to enter some math competitions (as a class) to earn prizes and get some GREAT online practice! ANYONE BRINGING ME PROOF OF WORKING ON THE SITE WILL RECEIVE 2 FREE HOMEWORK PASSES FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY! I have created accounts for all of my students, but you can work without it, for now. 2. Curious about taking REAL college courses on topics you enjoy? Need some CHALLENGE in my class- because you're feeling bored? Everything seems EASY? Have you thought about learning how to code- make your own apps and games? Design your own website? Do you want to EARN FREE COLLEGE CREDIT, just for working on your computer at home? CHECK OUT https://www.edx.org/ . EdX is a non-profit founded at MIT in 2012 that helps students find the courses they need to gain skills, knowledge, and experience in what they WANT to learn! I WANT TO HELP YOU HAVE FUN LEARNING! Is there a way to give you credit in MY CLASS for this??? I am working that out with Mr. O. Let's have fun! |
