Happy First Week of School!
The first day of class went GREAT! We talked about some important class issues, met classmates, and begun a cool activity that we KNOW contains some great SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, and MATH! Tomorrow should be fun- photos and video to come later!
As a rule, homework will be posted here on a weekly basis. I will also post homework via the Remind101 messaging service as well (that might be daily or weekly, depending on my schedule.
Example (real, but still an example):
Tuesday- Get parent form completed, and bring back any signed forms!
Wednesday- Study multiplication facts from flash cards!
Thursday- Study multiplication facts- Quiz tomorrow!
Friday- Make sure you have all of your supplies for next week!
In reference to actual math knowledge, I foresee learning about properties of real numbers (SOL 6.19) and ratios (SOL 6.1) first, along with an overview of BASIC SKILLS (especially multiplication). I GIVE MULTIPLICATION QUIZZES WEEKLY (FRIDAYS) UNTIL EVERYONE MASTERS THE BASICS (2s through 12s)! Students are aware of this, and when applicable, your help with flash cards, quizzing at home, or reminding students of their facts is greatly appreciated!
For the remainder of this short week, I will emphasize basic skills, procedures, and teaching/modeling expectations of conduct in and out of class.
PARENT HOMEWORK- Click on the STUDENT INFO FORM link above. This will be your way of giving me contact info to keep you informed about your child's class, as well about your child so I can make class relevant and fun.
This week can be hectic/stressful/not fun...but it gets better!
Have a great week!
